A (Short) Love Letter to the Short Email

“While emails are technically just text, just writing, and therefore could theoretically be as long as you care to make them, in reality longer emails are more likely to go unread, and less likely to be read carefully, as short ones.” My team sends twice monthly emails to our sales leaders to update how their teams are being enabled.  Leaders are busy and take in a lot of information. A majority of time, people are reading emails on their phones. Once I get past two screens of text, I start wondering how long it’s going to go? Have you had a similar feeling?   Leaders move fast.  Be brief. One tip: When sending an important email, send it to yourself first and see how it reads on your phone. Take in some additional writing efficiency tips here.    And in practicing what I preach, I’ll end it here!
